Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Hot Cell Technician to join our team in Manchester, focusing on the safe handling and operation of hot cells used for radioactive materials. This role requires strict adherence to safety protocols while working in a high-security environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage hot cell operations while maintaining high safety standards.
• Conduct inspections and performance checks on equipment.
• Facilitate the safe packaging and transport of radioactive materials.
• Compile comprehensive reports on operations and maintenance.
• Assist in the training of new staff members.
• Oversee decontamination processes post-operation.
• Engage in cross-functional team meetings to discuss safety improvements.
• Stay updated on changes in regulations related to nuclear safety.
• Support waste management and disposal procedures.
• Perform quality control checks on samples processed in hot cells.

Requirements

Education

• Postgraduate qualification in Nuclear Engineering or related subject
• Additional certifications in radiation safety are preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in high-security environments

Technical Skills

• Technical aptitude for operating machinery
• Experience with radiation detection equipment

Languages

• English: Fluent
