Job Description

As an OWDS, you will support offenders in overcoming employment barriers, helping them develop their skills and find meaningful work. This essential role includes creating individual development plans and collaborating with various professionals in the criminal justice system.

Responsibilities

  • Host career fairs and networking events to facilitate connections between offenders and potential employers.
  • Conduct workshops on CV writing and interview preparation tailored to the needs of offenders.
  • Monitor and report on the employment progress of participants and adjust programs accordingly.
  • Liaise with community resources for additional support services.
  • Support the recruitment of job placement coordinators and volunteers.
  • Encourage participation in community outreach initiatives.

Requirements

Education
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g. social work, psychology, criminal justice)
  • Additional certifications or training in offender management or related areas is desirable
Experience
  • At least 2 years of experience working in offender management or related field
Technical Skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong assessment and case management skills
Soft Skills
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse offender populations
  • Motivational skills
Languages
  • English: Fluent

Advantageous

  • Experience in delivering employment support and training programs: Prior experience in similar roles will be highly regarded.
  • Familiarity with the challenges and barriers faced by offenders seeking employment: Understanding of the social and economic barriers to employment.
