Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Electromechanical Technician to join our dynamic team in Birmingham. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing electrical and mechanical systems, ensuring the smooth operation of our machinery.

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular maintenance and inspections on all electromechanical systems to ensure high performance.
  • Diagnose and repair issues with mechanical and electrical components in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of new electromechanical equipment.
  • Develop and implement maintenance protocols to enhance system reliability.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to streamline operations and reduce downtime.
  • Document all maintenance work and technical procedures for future reference.
  • Train and mentor junior staff on electromechanical practices.
  • Monitor inventory levels of equipment parts and supplies and order as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations during all operational processes.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize system performance.

Requirements

Education
  • Degree or diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or relevant field
  • Recognized apprenticeship or vocational training in electromechanical systems
Experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role
Technical Skills
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent understanding of electrical and mechanical systems
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and manuals
  • Knowledge of relevant software platforms and tools (e.g., CAD software, PLC programming)
Soft Skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
  • Flexibility to work on-call or during weekends if required
Certifications
  • Certified Electromechanical Technician
Languages
  • English: Fluent

Advantageous

  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment: Hands-on experience working with complex machinery and systems in a production setting.
  • Knowledge of robotic systems and automation: Experience with automated systems and robotics is highly advantageous.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations: Understanding of safety protocols and compliance in an industrial workplace.
  • Additional certifications in specialized areas: Certifications in PLC programming or HV electrical systems are a plus.
