Job Description

The Utilities Manager will oversee the daily operations of the utility systems in a facility, ensuring they are efficient, effective, and adhere to safety regulations and guidelines. This role is pivotal in managing the utility services and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement emergency response plans for utility systems, ensuring all personnel are trained in crisis management protocols.
  • Ensure all personnel adhere to company and regulatory health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and manage the annual operating and capital expense budgets for the utility systems.
  • Evaluate utility operations for continuous improvement and innovation opportunities.
  • Provide regular reports to senior management on performance metrics and compliance status.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field
  • Professional certification in utility management or related field (such as Certified Energy Manager or Certified Utility Safety Professional)
Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a utility management role or related field.
Technical Skills
  • Strong knowledge of utility systems and equipment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
  • Experience with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems
Soft Skills
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills

Advantageous

  • Experience in project management: Proven ability to manage utility projects from concept through execution.
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 standards: Understanding of environmental management systems and energy management standards.
