Roundhouse Fireman

Job Description

As a Roundhouse Fireman, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining the firebox and steam boiler of our steam locomotives. Working closely with the locomotive engineer, you will ensure the safe and efficient operation of the locomotives that power our trains.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with safety regulations while operating the steam boiler.
• Conduct regular inspections and maintenance checks on steam locomotive components.
• Collaborate with team members to enhance operational efficiency.
• Respond promptly to any mechanical issues that arise during operations.
• Train new staff on best practices and safety protocols.
• Assist in preparing the locomotive for departures and arrivals.

Requirements

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Technical training in steam engine operations is preferred

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years operating and maintaining steam engines.

Certifications

• Certification in steam engine operations

Languages

• English: Fluent
