Hull Grinder

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Hull Grinder to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to grind and smooth hull surfaces of boats and ships to ensure their structural integrity and performance. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in hull grinding and be familiar with relevant tools and techniques.

Responsibilities

• Conduct hull inspections and document the findings.
• Coordinate with other tradespeople to ensure effective workflow.
• Implement the best practices for hull surface preparation.
• Train and mentor junior staff in grinding techniques.
• Ensure all work is completed to the required standard and within allotted timeframes.

Requirements

Education

• Certifications in hull grinding or shipbuilding are preferred.

Experience

• Experience working with various hull sizes and shapes.

Technical Skills

• Experience with abrasive tools and equipment
• Excellent hand-eye coordination

Soft Skills

• Effective communication and teamwork abilities
• Physical stamina and dexterity

Advantageous

• Ability to operate additional shipyard equipment: Familiarity with cranes or hoists for material handling.
• Experience in other aspects of shipbuilding processes: Knowledge of the general operations of a shipyard.
