Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Art Gallery Manager to oversee our gallery's daily operations in Motherwell. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of contemporary art, as well as the ability to engage with artists, patrons, and the local community to drive exhibitions and events.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the installation and de-installation of exhibitions, ensuring high standards of presentation.
  • Manage the gallery’s social media and digital presence to promote exhibitions and events.
  • Collaborate with educational institutions to develop programs that engage students and the community.
  • Prepare reports on gallery activities and performance metrics for the Board of Directors.
  • Network with local and national arts organizations to enhance the gallery's profile.
  • Implement strategies to boost membership and donor engagement.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the gallery.
  • Participate in art fairs and other events to promote the gallery and its artists.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts or related field
  • Master’s degree in Arts Management is an asset

  • 3+ years in a managerial role within an art gallery or cultural institution
