Job Description

The Water Commissioner is integral to overseeing water management practices within the region. This role involves ensuring compliance with national and local regulations, implementing water conservation initiatives, and addressing water quality issues.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the management of water resources ensuring environmental standards are met.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation regarding water quality and safety.
  • Advocate for water conservation through public outreach and education.
  • Lead investigations into incidents of water pollution or waste.
  • Liaise with governmental and non-governmental organisations to foster partnerships.
  • Conduct regular audits of water management processes.
  • Draft and present reports to senior management on the status of water resources.
  • Develop training materials to educate staff and stakeholders on compliance and best practices.
  • Implement data analysis and reporting tools for effective water resource management.
  • Facilitate workshops and meetings with community groups to discuss local water issues.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Water Management, or Engineering.
  • A Master's degree is preferred.
Experience
  • A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in water management or a related field.
