Job Description

As a Mining and Geological Engineer, you will be pivotal in ensuring the safety of mining operations. You will develop and implement safety protocols, conduct inspections, and provide training to personnel, fostering a culture of safety throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead safety audits and evaluate the effectiveness of current procedures.
  • Implement training sessions for staff regarding safety protocols and practices.
  • Monitor compliance with health and safety legislation.
  • Perform risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend improvements.
  • Report on the performance of safety initiatives and suggest adjustments.
  • Facilitate communication between departments regarding safety issues.
  • Ensure all safety equipment is maintained and accessible.
  • Review and update emergency plans regularly to improve effectiveness.
  • Assist in conducting post-incident reviews to evaluate and enhance safety measures.

Requirements

Education
  • Degree in Geology or related discipline
  • Additional qualifications in health and safety are a plus
Experience
  • At least 2 years' experience in a mining environment with a focus on safety.
