Special Education Bus Driver

Job Description

We are looking for a compassionate and responsible Special Education Bus Driver to transport students with special needs safely and efficiently. This role requires excellent communication skills, patience, and a commitment to providing a supportive environment for our passengers.

Responsibilities

• Operate specially equipped buses for transporting students with special needs.
• Ensure the students' safety and comfort throughout the journey.
• Provide assistance for boarding and disembarking from the bus safely.
• Foster a positive atmosphere among students during transit.
• Report any incidents or delays to the relevant authorities promptly.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle.
• Ensure compliance with traffic laws and company policies at all times.

Requirements

Education

• Valid UK driving license (Category D1 or D1+E)
• Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)

Experience

• Previous experience as a bus driver, preferably with special education or in an educational setting.

Technical Skills

• Excellent driving skills
• First Aid/CPR certification

Soft Skills

• Communication
• Patience and empathy

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience working with students with special needs: Prior experience working directly with students with special needs is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with local traffic regulations: Knowledge of the local traffic laws and safe routes for student transport.
