Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Corrections Corporal to join our team in Birmingham. In this role, you'll oversee the behavior and activities of inmates, ensuring the safety and security of the correctional facility while maintaining order. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership abilities and a thorough understanding of correctional protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations and ensure adherence to facility regulations.
  • Review daily logs and documentation from correctional staff.
  • Engage with inmates to foster a respectful environment.
  • Conduct regular drills to prepare for emergency situations.
  • Implement security measures for the transport of inmates.
  • Evaluate the performance of correctional staff and provide feedback.
  • Stay informed about rehabilitation programmes for inmates.
  • Manage conflict resolution among inmates and staff.
  • Participate in training sessions for personal development.
  • Liaise with healthcare professionals for inmate welfare checks.

Requirements

Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a recognised correctional officer training programme
Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a correctional officer, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
