Job Description

As an Insurance Underwriter, you will play a vital role in assessing and evaluating insurance applications. Your primary responsibility will be to determine the level of risk associated with insuring applicants and set appropriate premiums and coverage options.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and underwrite insurance applications for various products.
  • Determine risk levels and corresponding premiums based on comprehensive analysis.
  • Work with brokers to negotiate terms and clarify underwriting requirements.
  • Provide mentorship and support to junior underwriters.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance underwriting processes.
  • Implement and adhere to company policies and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in industry seminars and training sessions to deepen understanding.
  • Respond promptly to client inquiries and resolve any concerns.
  • Develop reports on underwriting performance and market conditions.
  • Foster collaboration between teams to improve client service.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as risk management, insurance, or finance.
  • Professional certification in underwriting (e.g., Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter) is preferred.
Experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in insurance underwriting.
