Job Description

We are on the lookout for an experienced Herdsman to manage and care for our livestock. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the health and productivity of our animals, implementing best practices in livestock management, and collaborating with the farm team to achieve operational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily herd management practices to ensure optimal animal welfare.
  • Implement health and safety practices in line with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with the farm manager to develop and execute herd health strategies.
  • Maintain inventory of livestock supplies and equipment.
  • Participate in training new team members on livestock care practices.
  • Monitor pasture conditions and develop grazing plans.
  • Report any issues related to livestock health or behaviour to management.
  • Engage in community outreach and farm tours to promote the company’s practices.

Requirements

Education
  • Higher National Diploma or Degree in Agriculture or Animal Science preferred
Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a livestock management role.
