Job Description

The Parks Recreation Director will oversee the planning, development, and operation of enjoyable and accessible recreational programs and spaces. This role seeks an individual passionate about promoting an active lifestyle and engaging the community.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate recreational programs for all age groups and abilities.
  • Oversee the maintenance of parks and recreational facilities to ensure they are safe and welcoming.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety and operational regulations.
  • Manage budgets, financial reports, and grant applications for program funding.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor staff and volunteers to provide quality service.
  • Collaborate with local organisations to enhance community involvement in programs.
  • Design and distribute promotional materials to engage the community in activities.
  • Assess program success and incorporate feedback for improvements.
  • Plan and execute special events to bring the community together.
  • Represent the organisation at community and government meetings, advocating for recreational needs.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation or a related field
  • Postgraduate qualifications in management or public administration are advantageous
Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in recreation management or a similar role.
