Job Description

As a Public Health Veterinarian, you will play a critical role in safeguarding public health by managing disease prevention and control measures. You will work closely with various stakeholders, conducting inspections, collaborating on outbreak responses, and providing expert advice.

Responsibilities

  • Perform disease surveillance and data analysis to inform health strategy.
  • Engage with the community to promote animal welfare and disease prevention.
  • Manage projects that contribute to the health of the public and animal population.
  • Advise on health policy formulation and its implementation.
  • Act as a liaison between veterinary and public health sectors.
  • Oversee training and capacity-building initiatives for veterinary staff.

Requirements

Education
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree
  • Membership or licensure with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS)
  • Postgraduate qualification in Veterinary Public Health or related field (desirable)
Experience
  • Experience in conducting disease surveillance and investigation.
