Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Log Grader and Scaler to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial in assessing and measuring logs to ensure quality and compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in timber grading and a keen eye for detail.

Responsibilities

  • Measure logs precisely using calibrated tools and equipment.
  • Evaluate logs based on industry grading standards.
  • Communicate effectively with the production team regarding logs ready for processing.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on grading discrepancies.
  • Implement corrective actions to improve grading consistency.
  • Assist in the development of new grading protocols and guidelines.
  • Maintain logs of defects and rejections due to grading issues.
  • Engage with stakeholders to discuss supply chain improvements.
  • Participate in audits to ensure compliance with inspection standards.
  • Contribute ideas for enhancing grading technology and techniques.

Requirements

Education
  • NVQ Level 3 in Carpentry or related field
  • Relevant degree in Forestry or Environmental Science is a plus.
Experience
  • 3+ years in the timber industry, preferably in grading roles
