Job Description

A Dockmaster oversees the operations of a dock, ensuring its safe and efficient operation. They are responsible for coordinating the movement of cargo, vessels, and personnel, as well as managing the maintenance and repair of the dock.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe and efficient berthing of vessels at the dock.
  • Monitor dock operations to meet financial targets and KPIs.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with port users.
  • Conduct regular safety checks and risk assessments.
  • Manage the allocation of berths and resources at the port.
  • Implement best practices for dock management and operations.
  • Supervise and support the dock operations team.

Requirements

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certification in dock or marine operations (preferred)
Experience
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in dock or marine operations is required.
Technical Skills
  • Leadership and management skills

  • Knowledge of safety regulations

Languages
  • English: Fluent

Advantageous

  • Experience in emergency response and crisis management: Prior experience managing emergency situations and developing response strategies.
