Job Description

The House Father is responsible for the day-to-day management and oversight of a residential home for children and young people who require alternative care arrangements. This role demands exceptional leadership and organisational skills to create a nurturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the emotional welfare of the children and young people in residence.
  • Coordinate staff schedules and manage workloads effectively.
  • Oversee the household budget to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Implement individual care plans tailored to each child's needs.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed reports on children's progress and incidents.
  • Engage with families and guardians to ensure transparent communication.
  • Conduct risk assessments to ensure child safety.
  • Lead on the recruitment and training of new staff.
  • Respond to emergencies and manage crisis situations.
  • Work with educational institutions to support children's academic growth.

Requirements

Education
  • Relevant degree in Child Development or Social Work
Experience
  • Experience of managing staff within a residential care setting
