SOC Analyst

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented SOC Analyst to join our cybersecurity team in Birmingham. The ideal candidate will analyse security incidents, investigate threats, and help to secure our IT infrastructure. You'll work collaboratively with other IT staff to enhance our security posture and respond effectively to incidents.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate security incidents for severity and potential impact.
• Work on continuous improvement of security processes and procedures.
• Simulate attack scenarios to test response capabilities.
• Assist in regulatory compliance audits.
• Develop and maintain security documentation.
• Provide training for internal team members on security best practices.
• Review and analyse logs to detect anomalies.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
• Master's degree in Cybersecurity is preferable

Experience

• 4+ years of experience within a SOC environment

• Data Analysis

Certifications

• GIAC Security Expert (GSEC)
• Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Scripting skills (Python, PowerShell): Ability to automate processes through scripting.
• Practical experience with threat intelligence platforms: Hands-on experience using threat intelligence for proactive security measures.
