As a Historical Site Guide, you will be responsible for leading engaging tours through some of York's most iconic historical sites. You will share captivating stories, historical facts, and ensure that visitors have a memorable experience while fostering an appreciation for our cultural heritage.

Job Responsibilities
  • Deliver historical narratives that resonate with visitors of varying ages.
  • Manage the logistics of tour groups to ensure smooth operations.
  • Encourage and promote conservation efforts during tours.
  • Document visitor feedback and share insights with team members.
  • Utilise technologies for scheduling and visitor management.
  • Assist in promotional activities for the tourism branch.
  • Coordinate with external vendors for events and special tours.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in History, Archaeology, or a related field
  • Relevant certifications in tour guiding are advantageous
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills Strong ability to convey information clearly and effectively.
  • Strong knowledge of history and historical events In-depth understanding of the relevant historical context.
  • Familiarity with audio-visual equipment Basic understanding of using equipment for presentations.
  • Adaptability Able to adjust style and delivery based on audience.
  • Customer service orientation Skilled in creating enjoyable experiences for visitors.
  • Team collaboration Experienced at working effectively within teams.
  • Tourism and Guiding Certification
  • English (Fluent)
  • French (Conversational)
