Job Description

As a Special Education Teacher in an elementary school, you will play a crucial role in educating and supporting students with diverse learning needs. You will create tailored lesson plans, assess student progress, and collaborate with parents and specialists to foster a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and adapt teaching materials to meet the educational needs of students with various learning disabilities.
  • Engage in behaviour management practices to support positive student behaviour in the classroom.
  • Facilitate individual and small group learning experiences to address specific learning objectives.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create a holistic support system for students.
  • Conduct assessments to evaluate student learning and inform teaching practices.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's learning and development.
  • Encourage students' participation in extracurricular activities to enhance their social skills.
  • Stay informed about current trends and best practices in special education.
  • Attend staff meetings and contribute to the development of school policies related to special education.
  • Support the transition of students between primary and secondary education.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field
  • QTS or equivalent teaching qualification is required.
Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years teaching experience in a primary or special education setting.
