Insurance Underwriter

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Insurance Underwriter to join our dedicated team in Leicester. You will be responsible for assessing risk and determining insurance terms and pricing for new and existing clients. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of underwriting processes and a keen eye for detail.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze complex insurance applications, providing recommendations on risk acceptance.
• Participate in industry conferences and seminars to expand knowledge and network within the insurance community.
• Implement changes to underwriting procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Evaluate the impact of regulatory changes on underwriting practices and ensure compliance.
• Negotiate terms and conditions of insurance policies with brokers and clients.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field
• Master's degree in Finance is preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of work experience in insurance underwriting

Technical Skills

• Insurance Regulation Knowledge
• Financial Analysis

Soft Skills

• Negotiation Skills
• Teamwork

Certifications

• CII Advanced Diploma
• Additional underwriting certifications are a plus

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Strong networking skills: Ability to build relationships with key stakeholders in the insurance market.
• Proficiency in statistical analysis tools: Experience using statistical tools to assess risk data.
