Job Description

As a Wastewater Treatment Plant Instructor, you will play a crucial role in educating and training personnel at wastewater treatment facilities. You will develop and deliver training programmes that align with industry standards, ensuring that staff are equipped with the skills necessary to operate our facilities efficiently and safely.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver training programmes for wastewater treatment plant personnel that align with industry standards and regulations.
  • Assess trainee knowledge and skills to identify areas for improvement and adjust training accordingly.
  • Provide one-on-one coaching and mentoring to trainees as required.
  • Create and maintain training materials, including presentations, handouts, and manuals.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements to ensure training content remains current and relevant.
  • Collaborate with plant managers and supervisors to identify training needs and develop customised training plans.
  • Track and report on trainee progress to management.
  • Maintain accurate training records.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations during training sessions.

Requirements

Education
  • BSc or MSc degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or related field
  • Teaching or training qualification (e.g. PGCE, CertEd, C&G 7303, AET, etc.)
Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in wastewater treatment operations or related field
Technical Skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate effective training sessions
Soft Skills
  • Problem-solving
  • Organisational skills
Certifications
  • Certification in wastewater treatment or related field (e.g. IWEX, WSO, CWEA, etc.)
Languages
  • English: Fluent

Advantageous

  • Experience with online learning platforms: Familiarity with technology-based training methods and platforms.
  • Experience in managing or supervising plant operations: Background in managing day-to-day operations in a wastewater treatment setting.
