Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our expanding team in Sheffield. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in CAD software and a strong foundation in mechanical design principles. In this role, you will work on innovative projects that require creativity and technical skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components for various projects.
• Utilise CAD software to produce high-quality design drawings.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to discuss design feasibility.
• Conduct prototype testing and analysis to validate designs.
• Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations in design practices.
• Create and maintain project documentation throughout the design process.
• Assist in the training of junior engineers and interns.
• Implement improvements based on feedback from production and testing.
• Support the continuous development of engineering standards.
• Participate in client meetings to understand requirements and provide solutions.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in design engineering

Technical Skills

• ProE/Creo
• Project Management Software

Soft Skills

• Leadership
• Analytical Skills

Certifications

• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
• Professional Engineer (PE)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Familiarity with 3D printing technologies: Experience in utilizing 3D printing for prototyping and design validation.
• Experience with Finite Element Modeling (FEM): Proficiency in FEM for stress analysis and design validation.
