Gas Meter Reader

Job Description

The Gas Meter Reader is responsible for accurately reading and recording gas meter readings for both residential and commercial properties. This role demands a keen attention to detail and a readiness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Accurately read and record meter readings within scheduled timeframes
• Maintain comprehensive records of the meter readings process
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations while on-site
• Provide customer service by addressing customer inquiries during visits
• Coordinate with the Meter Reading Manager to improve efficiency of routes
• Document and report any discrepancies in readings promptly
• Maintain effective communication with team members and support staff

Requirements

Education

• GCSEs in Maths and English

Experience

• No previous experience required

Technical Skills

• Basic computer skills
• GPS and mapping software skills

Soft Skills

• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work independently
• Physical fitness

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Previous experience in a customer-facing role: Experience dealing with customers can be beneficial in this role.
• Knowledge of gas safety regulations and guidelines: Understanding the basics of gas safety can enhance job performance.
