Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Tax Examiner or Collector to join our team in London. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying and investigating tax delinquencies, developing strategies to recover outstanding taxes, and ensuring compliance with tax regulations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough investigations into financial records to substantiate tax claims.
• Negotiate realistic payment plans with taxpayers facing financial hardships.
• Utilise collection software to track delinquent accounts and monitor payment progress.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient tax recovery processes.
• Train and mentor junior staff on best practices in tax collection.
• Monitor compliance with established tax regulations and policies.
• Represent the agency at hearings and legal proceedings regarding tax delinquencies.

Requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred

Experience

• 2-4 years of experience in a tax collection or finance role

Technical Skills

• Financial analysis software
• Data management systems

Soft Skills

• Interpersonal skills
• Conflict resolution

Certifications

• Certified Revenue Officer (CRO)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Knowledge of local tax regulations: Familiarity with local laws enhancing compliance and enforcement.
