Job Description

As an Ophthalmic Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our team of ophthalmologists and optometrists. Your responsibilities will include both administrative and clinical tasks, ensuring a seamless experience for our patients.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in performing eye exams and tests under the supervision of a healthcare professional.
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety during examinations.
  • Handle patient inquiries and concerns with professionalism and empathy.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of medical supplies and equipment.
  • Assist in training new staff and interns as needed.
  • Stay updated with the latest ophthalmic procedures and technologies.
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss patient care and service improvements.

Requirements

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an ophthalmic technician program is preferred
Experience
  • 1-2 years of experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant
Technical Skills
  • Understanding of eye anatomy and common eye conditions
Soft Skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Certifications
  • BLS Certification
Languages
  • English: Fluent

Advantageous

  • Experience with patient education: Demonstrated ability to educate patients on eye health and treatment options.
  • Experience with contact lens fitting: Knowledge and experience in fitting patients for contact lenses.
