Job Description

Seeking a skilled and sensitive Funeral Counselor to support families through the funeral process. You will guide clients in choosing appropriate memorialisation options, assist with legal and administrative processes, and maintain accurate records. Your expertise in bereavement support and compassion for grieving individuals will play a vital role in creating meaningful experiences for families.

Responsibilities

  • Support families throughout the funeral planning process by providing guidance and empathy.
  • Collaborate with the Funeral Director to ensure the services meet the wishes of the family.
  • Maintain a professional and compassionate demeanor during all interactions.
  • Provide detailed information on available options and help families make informed decisions.
  • Manage sensitive documentation and ensure all legal requirements are met.
  • Engage with community resources to assist families in need of additional support.
  • Offer continuous support during the bereavement process, including follow-up contact after the service.
  • Educate and train junior staff on best practices in grief counselling.
  • Develop and implement community outreach programs related to bereavement support.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field
  • Accredited training in bereavement counselling preferred
Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in counselling or related field.
