Lab Safety Coordinator

Job Description

We are seeking a meticulous Lab Safety Coordinator to oversee safety policies and practices within our laboratory in Ipswich. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, conducting safety audits, and fostering a culture of safety across the team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct incident investigations and develop corrective actions.
• Create and manage safety-related training programs.
• Lead safety committee meetings and provide updates on safety metrics.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation.
• Organise and conduct fire and emergency drills.
• Educate staff on safe handling of hazardous materials.
• Maintain an inventory of safety equipment and materials.
• Audit laboratory practices against safety best practices.
• Prepare and deliver safety presentations to staff.
• Collaborate with the HR department on employee safety training needs.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health, Safety or related field
• Postgraduate qualifications in Safety Management preferred

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in laboratory safety or health and safety management

• Lab Safety Protocols

Certifications

• Health and Safety at Work Certificate
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is a plus

Languages
