Building Standards Inspector

Job Description

As a Building Standards Inspector based in Salisbury, you will play a vital role in ensuring that building projects comply with regulations and safety standards. You will assess building plans, conduct site inspections, and provide guidance to contractors and clients regarding compliance issues.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess the quality of materials used in construction.
• Ensure that all work complies with agreed specifications and legal requirements.
• Support enforcement actions for any breaches of regulations.
• Take part in public consultations regarding building standards.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including contractors and property owners.
• Support the adoption of new building technologies and practices.
• Gather and analyze data related to building compliance performance.
• Advise on health and safety standards in relation to construction works.
• Participate in continuous professional development and training.
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with local authorities.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or equivalent
• Master's degree is advantageous

Experience

• 5 years of experience in building standards compliance

• Knowledge of Construction Materials

Certifications

• Certified Construction Inspector
• Certification in Building Standards

Languages

• English: Fluent
