We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mortgage Underwriter to join our team. As a Mortgage Underwriter, you will be responsible for assessing and analyzing mortgage applications, ensuring that they meet the necessary criteria and compliance standards. Your expertise in risk assessment, financial analysis, and mortgage regulations will be crucial in ensuring the smooth and efficient processing of mortgage applications.

Responsibilities

• Review and verify accuracy of financial documentation presented in mortgage applications.
• Conduct risk assessments based on detailed analysis of applicant's financial history.
• Liaise with relevant departments such as Sales and Compliance to ensure seamless processing.
• Utilize underwriting software and tools to optimise the underwriting process.
• Provide training and mentorship to junior underwriters within the team.
• Develop and maintain relationships with external partners and stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) guidelines and best practices.
• Assist in preparing reports and presentations on underwriting metrics for management.

Requirements

Education

• Relevant degree in finance, economics or related field

Experience

• Experience in underwriting complex mortgage applications is advantageous.
