Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Urban Planner to join our team in Colchester. The ideal candidate will have experience in urban design, land use planning, and community engagement, focusing on creating sustainable urban environments.

Responsibilities

• Design urban layouts that enhance livability and sustainability.
• Facilitate workshops and engagement sessions with the public.
• Assess environmental impacts of proposed projects.
• Develop strategic plans for urban renewal and redevelopment.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for project execution.
• Prepare strategic documents that align with government policies.
• Conduct site visits and assessments as needed.
• Continuously research urban planning trends and techniques.
• Advocate for community needs and priorities in planning processes.
• Prepare and present proposals to planning committees.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning or similar
• Master's degree in Urban Design is an advantage

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in urban planning or development roles

Technical Skills

• Project Management Software
• Public Consultation Techniques

Soft Skills

• Leadership
• Negotiation Skills

Certifications

• Membership in RTPI

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Proficiency in Urban Modelling Software: Experience with software tools for urban simulation and planning.
