Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Sandblast Operator to join our team in Birmingham. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining sandblasting equipment to prepare metal surfaces for painting or finishing. This role requires a keen attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all equipment is maintained and operational daily.
  • Prepare surfaces according to specific project requirements.
  • Follow strict safety and environmental regulations during sandblasting.
  • Adapt techniques based on the particular materials and finishes required.
  • Conduct quality checks on finished surfaces.
  • Participate in team meetings to promote safety and efficiency.
  • Assist in troubleshooting any equipment issues encountered.
  • Monitor stock levels of sandblasting media and supplies.
  • Ensure cleanliness of the work area post-operation.
  • Report directly to the Production Manager regarding daily operations.

Requirements

Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Certification in health and safety is preferred
Experience
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing setting, specifically with sandblasting or similar equipment.
Technical Skills
  • Knowledge of abrasive materials
  • Operational troubleshooting
Soft Skills
  • Problem-solving
  • Adaptability

Advantageous

  • Familiarity with environmental regulations: Knowledge of environmental best practices related to manufacturing.
  • Experience in a supervisory role is a plus: Previous experience leading a small team in a similar role.
