Job Description

We are seeking a Medical Records Director to lead the management and maintenance of medical records within our healthcare organization. The successful candidate will ensure the accuracy, confidentiality, and accessibility of patient information, while overseeing compliance with regulations such as HIPAA.

Responsibilities

  • Enhance current medical records management processes for better efficiency.
  • Lead the team in effectively utilizing electronic record systems.
  • Ensure a high level of data accuracy and staff adherence to compliance protocols.
  • Act as a liaison between administration and healthcare staff regarding medical records issues.
  • Prepare and present reports to senior management regarding records management activities.
  • Adapt to industry changes and seek out best practices for records management.
  • Support the professional development of the medical records team through training.
  • Implement innovative solutions to streamline record-keeping practices.
  • Facilitate access to patient information while maintaining strict compliance with data privacy.
  • Conduct routine reviews to update policies as necessary.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
  • Master's degree in Health Information Management is a plus
Experience
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience in medical records management
Technical Skills
  • Knowledge of medical coding systems
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools

Certifications
  • Health Information Management certification
  • Certified Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
