Job Description

As a Bee Breeder, you will play a critical role in breeding and maintaining healthy colonies of bees. Your expertise will contribute to honey production and ecological health. Ideal candidates are passionate about beekeeping and have a keen eye for detail.

Responsibilities

  • Implement effective breeding programmes for optimal honey production.
  • Conduct regular inspections of bee colonies to assess health and productivity.
  • Oversee the training of new staff in beekeeping techniques.
  • Collaborate with agricultural scientists to enhance breeding methods.
  • Ensure compliance with legal regulations regarding bee farming.
  • Engage with local communities and schools to promote awareness of bees.
  • Utilize beekeeping software for record-keeping and analysis.
  • Participate in trade shows and fairs to showcase bee products.
  • Monitor market trends to inform product development.
  • Lead initiatives promoting biodiversity and environmental stewardship.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Science or a related field
  • Certifications from recognized beekeeping bodies are a plus
Experience
  • 5 years of experience in beekeeping and honey production
Technical Skills
  • Familiarity with beekeeping software and tools
  • Experience in honey harvesting and processing
Soft Skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment
Certifications
  • Beekeeping Certification.
Languages
  • English: Fluent

Advantageous

  • Experience in working with other types of pollinators: Knowledge of biodiversity and managing other pollinators alongside bees.
