Orthoptist (Clinical Orthoptist)

Job Description

We are seeking a Clinical Orthoptist to join our esteemed healthcare team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing and managing eye movement disorders while working collaboratively with ophthalmologists and optometrists to deliver comprehensive care.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose eye movement disorders through comprehensive eye exams.
• Create and implement tailored treatment strategies, including exercises and prisms.
• Work as part of the ophthalmology team to ensure integrated patient care.
• Record and evaluate patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
• Engage in professional activities and contribute to departmental improvements.
• Provide training and support to junior staff and support personnel.
• Communicate effectively with patients regarding their conditions and therapies.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Orthoptics or equivalent
• Registration with HCPC

Experience

• 3+ years of experience as a Clinical Orthoptist

Technical Skills

• Patient Management
• Ocular Motility Assessment

Soft Skills

• Empathy
• Attention to Detail

Certifications

• Member of the British and Irish Orthoptic Society (BIOS)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience in a clinical setting: Previous experience in a hospital or clinical environment.
• Training in Advanced Orthoptics: Further training or courses in advanced orthoptic techniques.
