Job Description

We are seeking a Spare Hand to join our team in Manchester. The selected candidate will assist in the mechanical work on various equipment and machinery. This role requires a hands-on approach and the ability to collaborate effectively within our engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Assist technicians in mechanical repairs and routine checks.
• Carry out preventative maintenance to avoid downtime.
• Support in the calibration and testing of various machinery.
• Follow all health and safety guidelines strictly.
• Keep workspace tidy and equipment well-maintained.
• Provide operational support to the production staff as needed.
• Engage in daily safety checks and audits.
• Participate in team meetings to discuss project progress.
• Assist in training new team members as necessary.

Requirements

Education

• GCSEs in relevant subjects
• NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering is desirable

Experience

• While no prior experience is mandatory, familiarity with engineering environments will be considered an asset.

Technical Skills

• Basic computer skills
• Health and safety certification

Soft Skills

• Problem-solving
• Organisational skills

Advantageous

• Experience in a similar role: Previous experience in a similar mechanical support role is advantageous.
• Knowledge of maintenance principles: Understanding of maintenance best practices is highly valued.
