Animal Care Manager

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Animal Care Manager to oversee the daily operations of our animal shelter in Basildon. The successful candidate will ensure that all animals receive the highest standard of care and welfare, while managing a dedicated team of staff and volunteers.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team in providing high-quality care for animals in the shelter.
• Manage day-to-day operations, including feeding, grooming, and exercising animals.
• Work closely with veterinarians to ensure health and safety compliance.
• Prepare regular reports on shelter operations and animal welfare statistics.
• Develop community outreach initiatives to promote animal welfare education.
• Facilitate training sessions for staff and volunteers on animal handling and safety.
• Monitor budget and fundraising initiatives to support shelter activities.
• Act as a liaison between the shelter and the public to foster community relationships.
• Participate in strategic planning for future shelter programs and services.

Requirements

Education

• Degree in Animal Care or Management preferred

Experience

• 5+ years in animal care environments

• Knowledge of Animal Behaviour

Certifications

• First Aid Certification for Animals

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience in Fundraising: Background in fundraising initiatives for animal welfare.
