Health and Safety Officer

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Health and Safety Officer in Middlesbrough to oversee the health and safety management system across our engineering facilities, ensuring that our practices meet legal standards and promote employee well-being.

Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor health and safety standards within the engineering team.
• Identify potential hazards and assess risks using proper methodologies.
• Deliver health and safety training and induction sessions for new employees.
• Assist in the development of emergency response plans.
• Maintain accurate records of safety inspections and incidents.
• Advise on safety improvements to processes and equipment.
• Act as the primary point of contact for health and safety concerns.
• Conduct audits and provide feedback on safety compliance.
• Support the hiring process by ensuring that all staff receive necessary safety training.
• Promote a culture of safety awareness throughout the organisation.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field
• Relevant qualifications in engineering principles are advantageous

Experience

• 5+ years of experience managing health and safety systems in engineering environments.

Certifications

• IOSH Chartered Member
• NEBOSH Diploma Level 6
