Job Description

As a Psychiatric Aide, you will play a key role in supporting patients with mental health disorders. You will provide emotional support, assist with daily activities, and ensure the safety of patients by following established protocols. Your compassionate approach will help foster a supportive environment for our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating.
  • Monitor patients for any changes in behaviour or symptoms.
  • Provide encouragement to patients to participate in therapy and treatment plans.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to implement treatment measures.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records to ensure continuity of care.
  • Ensure patients' safety and well-being at all times by identifying potential hazards.
  • Engage patients in recreational activities to enhance their wellbeing.
  • Support new staff members during their orientation and training.

Requirements

Education
  • Certificate in Mental Health Support Work
Experience
  • Prior experience providing support to patients with psychiatric disorders.
Technical Skills
  • Crisis Management
  • Record Keeping
Languages
  • English: Fluent

Advantageous

  • Experience with specialised psychotherapeutic techniques: Knowledge of therapeutic approaches that can aid in patient recovery.
  • Certification in First Aid or CPR: Acquiring certification to ensure patient safety during emergencies.
