Job Description

As an Insurance Underwriter in our Birmingham office, you will play a critical role in evaluating risk and making coverage decisions. You will leverage your analytical expertise to assess applications thoroughly, ensuring we provide fair and competitive insurance products while maintaining our commitment to customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Process insurance applications and determine the appropriate coverages.
• Identify high-risk factors and make informed decisions on policy terms.
• Coordinate with risk management and claims teams to ensure policy alignment.
• Prepare underwriting reports and presentations for management review.
• Conduct market research to benchmark pricing and coverage terms.
• Manage relationships with brokers and clients to foster long-term partnerships.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field
• Professional qualification in insurance or risk management is preferred

Experience

• 4+ years of experience in underwriting within the insurance sector

• Underwriting Software Proficiency

Certifications

• ACII (Associate in Insurance)
• CIP (Chartered Insurance Practitioner)
