Forensic Scientist

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Forensic Scientist to join our team. As a Forensic Scientist, you will be responsible for analysing and interpreting physical evidence related to crime scenes and providing expert testimony in court proceedings.

Responsibilities

• Analyse and interpret complex forensic data to draw conclusions.
• Work closely with detectives and law enforcement officers during investigations.
• Utilise advanced forensic software tools for data analysis.
• Document all procedures and findings accurately.
• Participate in crime scene investigations as needed.
• Generate expert reports for investigative purposes and court hearings.
• Ensure compliance with ISO standards in forensic examination.
• Assist in developing new techniques for forensic analysis.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Forensic Science or a related field
• Postgraduate qualification in Forensic Science is preferred

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar forensic science role.

Technical Skills

• Forensic analysis techniques
• Data analysis software
• Laboratory information management systems (LIMS)

Soft Skills

• Attention to detail
• Strong communication skills
• Teamwork

Certifications

• Membership or certification from the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences
• Certified Crime Scene Investigator (CCSI) is a plus.

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Previous experience testifying as an expert witness in court: Proven history of providing expert witness testimony.
• Experience with crime scene investigation procedures: Hands-on experience in conducting or supporting crime scene investigations.
