Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Fruit Thinner to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for thinning fruit trees, ensuring proper spacing for healthy growth and optimal fruit quality. This role requires attention to detail and the ability to work in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular inspections of fruit trees to assess health and vigor.
• Utilize the correct thinning methods to promote optimal fruit quality.
• Report any signs of disease or pest issues to the Orchard Manager.
• Assist in irrigation and fertilization efforts as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the working area.
• Work closely with seasonal staff to share knowledge and techniques.

Requirements

Education

• Experience in horticulture or agriculture is an asset.

Experience

• 1-3 years of experience in fruit thinning or a related field is preferred.

Technical Skills

• Basic knowledge of pruning and tree care
• Knowledge of organic farming practices

Soft Skills

• Excellent teamwork
• Adaptability

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Understanding of irrigation systems: Basic knowledge of how irrigation can support tree growth.
• Experience with using hand tools safely: Ability to safely operate tools necessary for thinning tasks.
