Passenger Brakeman

Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Passenger Brakeman to join our team. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safe operation of trains with an emphasis on the braking system. You will engage with passengers, assist them during boarding and disembarking, and maintain communication with train drivers to ensure seamless operations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of passengers while boarding, travelling, and disembarking the train.
• Monitor passenger behaviour and address any disturbances or concerns.
• Check and validate passenger tickets and travel documents.
• Operate train doors and manage their opening and closing during station stops.
• Assist passengers with disabilities or reduced mobility, ensuring their safe movement within the train.
• Handle any necessary emergency response procedures, such as evacuations or first aid.
• Maintain a clean and tidy on-board environment.

Requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification
• Certified training in rail operations or related field

Experience

• No prior experience required, although previous work in a railway or transport-related role is advantageous.

Technical Skills

• Basic mechanical knowledge

Soft Skills

• Excellent attention to detail
• Good communication and interpersonal skills

Advantageous

• Additional mechanical or technical qualifications: Any further technical training will be beneficial.
• Previous customer service experience: Experience in customer-facing roles is a plus.
