Job Description

As a Psychiatric Aide, you will support patients in their everyday activities while providing emotional and physical assistance. Your role will involve monitoring patient progress and contributing to a safe and therapeutic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Aid patients with personal hygiene, meal preparation, and physical activities.
  • Observe, report, and interpret patient behaviours to guide treatment efforts.
  • Assist in implementing therapy programmes established by registered nurses.
  • Provide a listening ear and foster a supportive environment for patients’ needs.
  • Create a safe and therapeutic environment by mitigating potential risks.
  • Participate in engaging patients in activities that promote mental well-being.
  • Support the administration of prescribed medication and document administration accurately.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of patient progress and interactions.
  • Collaborate effectively with nursing teams to optimise patient care.
  • Understand and follow relevant health and safety procedures.

Requirements

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a recognized Psychiatric Nursing Assistant training programme
Experience
  • Experience in a similar role within mental health is advantageous.
