Job Description
As a Psychiatric Aide, you will support patients in their everyday activities while providing emotional and physical assistance. Your role will involve monitoring patient progress and contributing to a safe and therapeutic environment.
Responsibilities
Aid patients with personal hygiene, meal preparation, and physical activities.
Observe, report, and interpret patient behaviours to guide treatment efforts.
Assist in implementing therapy programmes established by registered nurses.
Provide a listening ear and foster a supportive environment for patients’ needs.
Create a safe and therapeutic environment by mitigating potential risks.
Participate in engaging patients in activities that promote mental well-being.
Support the administration of prescribed medication and document administration accurately.
Maintain thorough documentation of patient progress and interactions.
Collaborate effectively with nursing teams to optimise patient care.
Understand and follow relevant health and safety procedures.
Requirements
Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of a recognized Psychiatric Nursing Assistant training programme
Experience
Experience in a similar role within mental health is advantageous.
