As a Livestock Showman, you will handle and showcase a variety of livestock at exhibitions and competitions. Your role will be essential in ensuring the animals are presented in prime condition, adhering to industry standards and regulations.
Responsibilities
Prepare and present livestock for exhibitions and competitions.
Evaluate and ensure the health and wellbeing of all animals.
Engage with the public, providing information about the animals.
Coordinate logistics for animal transportation and setup.
Develop and implement effective show routines.
Keep accurate records of livestock performances.
Train and condition animals for shows, ensuring optimal presentation.
Participate in team meetings regarding event strategies and improvements.
Follow all regulations regarding animal welfare and safety.
Mentor junior staff in livestock handling techniques.
Requirements
Education
Relevant qualifications in Animal Science or Agriculture are a plus
Certificate in Livestock Management is advantageous
Experience
Experience participating in livestock shows and competitions is preferred
