Job Description

A Federal Mediator is tasked with facilitating negotiations between parties involved in legal disputes, ensuring fair and equitable resolutions. This role requires excellent communication skills and a strong understanding of mediation processes.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate constructive dialogue during mediation sessions between parties involved in disputes.
  • Encourage parties to express their concerns and viewpoints openly.
  • Assist in drafting detailed mediation reports and agreements post-session.
  • Monitor the implementation of mediation agreements and address any arising issues.
  • Conduct training for new mediators on best practices and conflict resolution strategies.
  • Engage in community outreach to educate on mediation benefits and processes.
  • Evaluate mediation outcomes and propose improvements to the mediation process.
  • Collaborate with mental health professionals when required for sensitive cases.
  • Review case files and prepare for mediation sessions to ensure effective discussions.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Conflict Resolution, or a related field
  • Certification in Mediation or Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is desirable
Experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in mediation or related legal field, preferably within a federal or government setting.
