Job Description

As a Freight Rate Specialist, you will focus on managing and optimizing freight rates for the transport of goods. Your role will involve analysing market trends, negotiating with carriers, and ensuring cost-effective solutions for the efficient movement of cargo.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate freight costs and shipping routes to recommend improvements.
• Maintain records and documentation related to freight contracts.
• Assist in developing pricing strategies for various shipping services.
• Conduct regular assessments of freight carriers' performance and service metrics.
• Support the team in forecasting future freight costs based on historical data.
• Engage with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with shipping laws.
• Train new staff on freight management processes and tools.

Requirements

Education

• Professional certifications in freight forwarding or transportation management (desirable)

Experience

• Preferred experience in international logistics or supply chain roles.

Technical Skills

• Familiarity with logistics management software
• Knowledge of international shipping regulations

Certifications

• Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)

Languages
