Job Description

As the Animal Care Manager, you will oversee daily operations, ensure the wellbeing of our resident animals, and manage a dedicated team of caretakers. You’ll be pivotal in developing care protocols and ensuring compliance with animal welfare regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of animal care staff, ensuring quality care and operational efficiency.
• Develop and implement care programs tailored to various animal species.
• Collaborate with external stakeholders and animal welfare organizations.
• Conduct routine assessments of facilities and animal habitats.
• Facilitate training sessions to enhance team skills and knowledge.
• Monitor and evaluate animal health, behaviour, and enrichment.
• Manage intake and adoption processes, ensuring best practices are followed.
• Lead initiatives to improve facility conditions and animal welfare.
• Promote community engagement through educational programs.
• Prepare and manage budgets for animal care and services.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine or equivalent
• Postgraduate qualification in Animal Welfare is an asset

Experience

• 5+ years in animal care management or similar role
