Job Description

As a Rail Car Repairer, you will be responsible for the inspection, evaluation, and repair of freight transportation equipment. Your expertise will ensure the safe and efficient operation of our fleet, making a crucial contribution to our operations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the repair and maintenance of rail equipment and ensure inspections are completed on time.
  • Develop and maintain repair logs and inventory for parts.
  • Work with operations staff to schedule repairs with minimal disruption.
  • Monitor and report on performance metrics related to repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Assist in the management of repair budgets and resources.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and management on repair status.
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement solutions.
  • Participate in training and workshops to enhance repair skills.
  • Assist in developing standard operating procedures for repairs.

Requirements

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of relevant vocational training or an apprenticeship in automotive/mechanical fields
Experience
  • 2+ years of experience in freight equipment repair, or a related sector.
Technical Skills
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems
  • Computer-based diagnostics

Languages
  • English: Fluent
